Saw this recipe on the Tasty channel of youtube, so I made them, but instead of using hot Italian sausage I used Italian seasoned ground turkey with the ground beef. They came out sooo good. I also chose to brown the meatballs first before putting them in the slow cooker which eliminates having a large amount of grease in your sauce. That’s just my preference.
A few tips for you that will make them even better than the video shows…
1. You’ll want to soak the bread crumbs in the milk separately for 20 minutes prior. Makes them fluffier and acts as a much better binding agent to hold the shape
2. Stuff them with ricotta and mozzarella and top with fresh grated parmesan/romano cheese.
