Sweet potatoes are something I always look forward to having at meals, especially around the holidays! I remember helping my grandma make candied yams with marshmallows on top every year for thanksgiving.
Skip the marshmallows and try this Southern Style Candied Yams Recipe from ‘Southern Krazed’! I prefer them over other methods of sweet potato preparation because every bite is coated in a delicious layer of sweet buttery cinnamon.
These don’t take hours of baking and are made easily right on your stovetop. Cooking the yams in this yummy mixture of spices and sugar allows each piece of potato to be fully immersed in flavor. They taste like candy! (Hints the name Candied Yams.)
If you make these, be sure to grab a scoop as soon as they’re placed on the table because they’re bound to go quickly.
- 6 large Sweet Potatoes
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp nutmeg

- Peel and quarter potatoes.
- Melt butter over medium heat. Add in sugar and spices.
